The West Clinic in partnership with the Tennessee Men’s Health Network will jointly host the First Annual Mid-South Motorcycle Ride for Prostate Cancer on Saturday, May 19th. The purpose of the event is to raise public awareness of the importance of prostate cancer screening, early detection and treatment, in order to save lives. This event is a precursor to a Community-Wide Family Health Screening event the Tennessee Men’s Health Network will conduct at the Raleigh Springs Mall on Saturday, September 15,2012.
The Ride will be comprised of 3 local bike clubs: River City Bikers, Buffalo Soldiers, and Trinity Bikers. Over 100 riders are expected to participate in the ride. The riders will meet at The West Clinic Midtown location for a brief presentation from 11:00-11:45 am. The Church Health Center and City of Memphis will have representatives speak at the event. A Midtown West Clinic physician and prostate cancer patient will speak briefly on the importance of prostate cancer screening.
The riders will then travel en mass to The West Clinic Humphreys location where Shelby County Mayor, Mark Luttrell, will make opening remarks. Dr. Sylvia Richey and a prostate cancer patient will speak about the importance of screening, education, and new treatments.
