The West Clinic is at the center of changing the paradigm for oncology research. From our inception, Dr. Bill West had a vision that the clinic be a leader in the development of new medications and methodologies for treatment. Today, The West Clinic has over three dozen active clinical trials. In addition, the clinic is about to commence ten new trials. It also is completing the last phase of reporting on nearly two dozen more. Thus, The West Clinic is engaged in research on 70 clinical trials – making the clinic a “World Class Center of Excellence in Cancer and other Advanced Medical Research.”
The objective of these trials is to accelerate the best new drugs to market so that patients all over the United States have the best therapies available.
In order to fuel this effort, the West Clinic helped start ACORN Research, LLC, formerly, ACORN and SOS.
ACORN [Accelerated Community Oncology Research Network], and SOS [Supportive Oncology Services], brought two key aspects to clinical trials, Acceleration and Support. Together these companies improved cancer research by speeding up the research process with patients in community-based clinics across the country with attention to improving survival rates and quality of life. The patients are further benefited by quicker clinical trial analysis, outcomes and availability.
SOS developed the Patient Care Monitor (PCM) & Cancer Care Monitor (CCM) – a cutting edge technology that provides the most comprehensive patient assessment available in cancer care. This device has been featured at national conferences including the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Mayo Clinic. The PCM/CCM is able to provide an enormous amount of data that assists in research. It is also able to increase the efficacy of accruing patients to the best research protocols – the most critical need for accelerating the best drug therapies to market.
Today, ACORN Research, LLC is a multi-faceted research organization that combines a network of committed oncology research sites with centralized site management, a BioBank with a commitment to the advancement of bioscience, HOPE [Health Outcomes PharmacoEconomics], and a Contract Research Organization [CRO] into one seamless research operation.
