Brad Somer joined The West Clinic in 2002 after completing his fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center. Dr. Somer also completed his internship and residency at the Hospital University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Board Certified in Medical Oncology, he sees patients in our Memphis, TN and Southaven, MS offices.

He completed his undergraduate degree in Philosophy at Yeshiva University where he graduated Cum Laude. Additionally, he served as assistant editor of “Oncolink”, a leading and award winning cancer information website while at University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Somer approaches cancer as a commander might approach a war on terror. He sees a cancer cell as a cell that has lost its ability to live in peace with the body’s other cells. Dr. Somer is actively involved in clinical research, often participating as principal investigator in research trials at The West Clinic and with Accelerated Community Oncology Research Network (ACORN). “The West Clinic clinical trial offerings exceed many top academic programs across the country where people travel long distances to seek medical care. It is a crown jewel for the Memphis cancer community for patients to have access to potential treatments long before they reach the general community.”
Dr. Somer leads the quality guideline committee process for The West Clinic with the intention of assuring that the guidelines utilized by the West clinic are of unparalleled quality based on the highest levels of evidence and best practice. Dr. Somer is married with 5 children. He is currently training to compete in triathlons but devotes the majority of his spare time to family and community activities.
