Dr. Palmieri’s distinguished career began when he obtained his medical degree in his native homeland of Argentina at the Universidad Nacional de Cordova. He completed residencies in Internal Medicine in both Argentina and at the University of Oklahoma. He completed his Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Karolinsk Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden. He holds state medical licenses in Tennessee, New York and Oklahoma. Initially, he centered his work at academic institutions; however, he joined The West Clinic in 1998 because it enabled him to work more closely with his patients.
Dr. Palmieri sees patients in our Memphis office. Metabolic bone disorders, including osteoporosis, provide the primary focus for Dr. Palmieri’s work and research. Dr. Palmieri is internationally known and respected for his pioneering work. Currently, he is researching the positive effects of Vitamin D. He also believes in the potential benefits from sun exposure.
Dr. Palmieri has published over 80 major journal articles, written metabolismrelated chapters for six (6) textbooks, and presented over 80 abstracts on metabolic bone disorders. A beloved professor at the University of Tennessee for over 20 years, he helped train a future generation of physicians to embrace his high standards of excellence and compassion.
