Dr. Hodgkiss graduated with honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia and then attended the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, served as the site for his Internship in Internal Medicine, his Residency in Radiology and his Fellowship in Interventional Radiology. He joined The West Clinic in 2001 and holds medical licenses Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas.
Dr. Hodgkiss specializes in interventional and diagnostic radiology. The diagnostic aspect of radiology consists of x-rays or scans which are performed to determine the existence or spread of disease. Interventional radiology is a relatively new and rapidly growing area of medicine. Interventional radiologists specialize in minimally invasive, targeted treatments performed using imaging guidance that replace open surgical procedures. They are generally easier for the patient because they involve no large incisions, less risk, less pain and shorter recovery times. This new field attracted Dr. Hodgkiss because of the opportunity to find an abnormality, perform a biopsy, and then if necessary, follow-up with treatment.
Since many people are unfamiliar with the procedures, Dr. Hodgkiss seeks to help the patient relax and feel comfortable by treating them the way he would like to be treated.. Dr. Hodgkiss believes that West Clinic patients are being seen and taken care of by some of the country’s best physicians and support personnel.
He and his family have a farm where they raise hay and have lots of family fun. Additionally, he coaches sports for his two children’s baseball, soccer, football and basketball teams. A former standout baseball player, he still takes time to play some as will as ride bikes.
