Dr. Johnson is originally from South India and subsequently moved to North Philadelphia with his family in the late 80’s, Dr. Johnson grew up and spent the early portion of his training in the City of Brotherly Love. After graduating from Villanova University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry and an Ethics Concentration in Healthcare, he pursued a medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 2010. He recently completed his Internal Medicine residency with the Geisinger Health System at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA where he focused his research efforts on identifying biomarkers in pancreatic adenocarcinoma. He presented abstracts regarding this work at the ASCO and EORTC Markers in Cancer 2012 meeting in Orlando, Florida as well as the ASCO Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium 2013 meeting in San Francisco, California.
Dr. Johnson is currently a Hematology-Oncology fellow at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the West Clinic. He is excited to be living in downtown Memphis with his beautiful wife and best friend, Liji who works as a Physician Assistant for underserved populations in surrounding Memphis communities. During their free time, the Johnson’s love Memphis barbecue, spending time outdoors with their dog Winston and most importantly serving God in their local church. Dr. Johnson has a particular interest in gastrointestinal malignancies and Phase I clinical trials focused on targeted molecular therapy.
