Dr. Arteta attended the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Alberto Hurtado School of Medicine in Lima, Peru. Following medical school, he served 1 year in the Peruvian Air Force and National Department of Health as a staff physician. During that time he provided medical care for the underserved in the jungle of Peru at the Manuel Polo Jimenez School. He then went on to complete a two-year Master study in Public Health & Health Policy.
In 2001, he moved to Detroit, Michigan and completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency training at Henry Ford Hospital. Returning to Peru in 2004, Dr. Arteta worked as a physician at the Cancer Screening Center in Lima. In 2006, Dr. Arteta accepted a position with the North Mississippi Medical Center as an Internist and ER physician. There, he later served as Chief of Staff in 2009/2010 and ER Medical Director in 2011. Dr. Arteta is currently pursuing his Hematology Oncology Fellowship training at the University of Tennessee.
He is married and has 2 beautiful daughters who keep him very busy. During his leisure time Dr. Arteta enjoys music, snowboarding and surfing.
