Wings Mission Statement
Physicians of The West Clinic created the Wings Cancer Foundation in 1996 to enhance supportive care for those touched by cancer. It began as a series of organized support groups for patients and their families, but soon grew to fill the void in the community. Today, broadened services include a lending library, a labyrinth, nutritional counseling, exercise & strength building, yoga & relaxation classes, and crisis intervention. In addition, Wings has mobilized the energy of over 100 survivors who volunteer at hospitals and treatment clinics offering comfort, support and inspiration to others faced with this devastating disease. Wings has been nationally recognized for excellence and its commitment to aiding in the comfort and healing of those touched by cancer.
Patients and their families benefit from Wings’ collaboration of services that provide relationships of support and caring to anyone touched by cancer. Wings provides comprehensive, individually-tailored support through diagnosis, treatment and beyond. Moving closer to the interface between mind and body and between healing and faith, Wings targets hopes and fears and the negative emotions that can interfere with the treatment experience.
